The average annual cost of treatment per child is $6,500. This will cover medical expenses and transportation to and from the hospital.
Do you want to help? Try to get your company to sponsor a child or maybe together with your entire team you can sponsor a child and get regular updates on their progress and prognosis. One very generous sponsor has become Cindy's new angel and has received this letter from Cindy. In 2015 her medical expenses were secured thanks to our sponsor and her family did not have to worry about the finances. |
¡Gracias!
Ms. xxx,
I just found out you are my sponsor!! Thank you! Thank you for caring about my life even though you have never met me. Thank you for knowing that my life matters and for helping me to fight and giving me a chance to be big so I can help my mom at her stand in the market selling tortillas.
I am fours years old and I have ALL (Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia), diagnosed in January of 2014 so I am halfway into my treatment. When diagnosed, I lived with my mom and dad and my three older siblings with some relatives. We did not have our own house and that was hard for my parents since we were in and our of the hospital. My mother had to quit her job as a housekeeper where she used to make 75 dollars a month to take care of me and now sells tortillas in the market where she can keep me close. My dad works in a banana plantation, collecting bananas and makes 90 dollars a month.
My parents struggle to feed all four of us but try hard to make everyday a better one. After diagnosed, my grandmother gave us a little plot of land so we could build our own house and now we have our own place. It isn’t much – made out of plastic and corrugated metal but it is ours. We could do this because people like you are helping out with my medical bills so my parents do not have to worry about that part of my diagnosis since they don’t have much money.
To come to treatment at the hospital, I wake up at 3am and take a bus for 3 hours so we can be there at 7am. I know I am getting better and enjoy watching cartoons, especially Dora and Mickey Mouse. I like to draw and eating watermelon.
Thanks to you, my medical expenses are covered – you are the Christmas miracle we have been waiting for! Thank you for caring and joining me in this fight!
Happy Holidays from your new friend in Nicaragua.
Un abrazo,
Cindy Najares
